Further demonstrating her strong support from the hardworking men and women of Long Beach, today, long-time community leader and Long Beach City Council 2nd District candidate Cindy Allen secured the endorsement of Teamsters Joint Council 42. The Teamsters union is the nation’s largest and most diverse labor organization, with over 1.4 million members across America.
Teamsters Joint Council 42 Representative Robert Turner made the following statement when announcing the endorsement:
“Cindy is an experienced leader who understands how local economies work, how to negotiate, and the importance of investing in people. She knows how complex and multifaceted our economic engine is and that our workers play a critical role in its success. Cindy will fight to uphold our values of equity, diversity, and social justice, and make sure the hardworking families of Long Beach earn livable wages and are treated fairly by their employers. We proudly support Cindy Allen for Long Beach City Council.”
An elated Allen also commented on the endorsement:
“It is truly a privilege to be endorsed by an organization like the Teamsters. The Teamsters have secured historic victories for working people and been the backbone of the American economy. I am humbled to receive their support and more inspired than ever to advocate for the hardworking men and women of Long Beach. If I am elected to the City Council, I will always fight for higher wages, better healthcare, and better benefits for our workers.”
The Teamsters join a number of prominent labor unions, including the United Food and Commercial Workers, the Laborers’ International Union of North America, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the International Association of Machinists, and the Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters, in supporting Cindy Allen for City Council.
