Senator Lena Gonzalez Endorses Cindy Allen!

In a game changing announcement, small business owner and long-time community leader, Cindy Allen, announced the endorsement of former Long Beach City Councilwoman and California State Senator Lena Gonzalez. Senator Gonzalez was elected to the Senate in June of 2019 to represent the 33rd Senate District, which includes a majority of the City of Long Beach.

As a former Long Beach City Councilmember, Senator Gonzalez knows what it takes to run, win and serve, and stated the following in her endorsement:

“I believe strongly in ensuring there are more women in elected office. At this time, I am proud to endorse Cindy Allen to represent the residents of District 2. She has broken barriers in business, public service and in our community - fighting for women & the LGBTQ community. She has a very strong commitment in improving our community with focus & care. I am confident that she will work closely with stakeholders in business, labor and non-profits to represent District 2 well.”

Cindy Allen, a long-time resident of Long Beach, brings a wealth of experience in public safety, entrepreneurship and civic affairs, offered these comments in response to news of Senator Gonzalez’s endorsement:

“I am both proud and honored to receive the endorsement of Senator Lena Gonzalez. Her record of leadership and service to the citizens of Long Beach is one I hope to learn from and build upon. Of course, the most important endorsement will be that of the voters, and I look forward to sharing my vision, my ideas and my passion for public service with the residents, business owners and community leaders in the 2nd District in the weeks and months ahead.”

Cindy Allen grew up on the west side of Long Beach and lives with her husband of 25 years in the 2nd District. As a mother of two and a breast cancer survivor, Cindy has a first-hand appreciation for why health access in general and women’s health access in particular are so important.

Cindy’s story is one of overcoming the odds and distinguishing herself time and again through perseverance, tenacity and hard work. An eternal optimist, Cindy served with distinction on the Long Beach Police Department before an injury ended her career in Public Safety. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a Master’s in Public Administration and has been a successful entrepreneur and small business owner.
