Former 2nd District Candidate Nigel Lifsey

Long Beach City Council 2nd District candidate Cindy Allen has secured the endorsement of former candidate Nigel Lifsey. The endorsement further demonstrates that Allen is the candidate who will fight for the residents of Long Beach.

Lifsey explained why he has chosen to support Cindy Allen,

“Diversity is one of the defining traits of Long Beach. However, we need more than diversity alone to mitigate the impact that centuries of systemic racism has had on our communities. The events of the last several months, in particular the Covid-19 pandemic as well as the national movement for racial and social justice, have shown us that we must elect government officials that will choose to lead with compassion and empathy, instead of fear and anger. We need city council members that demonstrate an ability to listen, and a willingness to propose policies that will represent the best interests of the residents of Long Beach. As I’ve come to know Cindy Allen, first as a political opponent during our primary campaigns for Long Beach City Council and then through conversations that she and I have had since the primary election, I know that she has the character and the heart of the person I want representing me on city council. I believe Cindy will be an important voice as a new councilmember to ensure that our beautiful city will not only withstand, but also overcome the challenges of the year 2020 moving forward. I am pledging my support and my vote to Cindy Allen for Long Beach City Council.”

In response, Allen said,

“I am honored to receive Nigel’s endorsement. I had the privilege to get to know Nigel during the primary race and saw his passion and desire to improve Long Beach. Since the election, we have continued our discussion on the many issues that Long Beach faces today and have had the opportunity to march for social justice together. I look forward to working with Nigel to improve the lives of all residents of Long Beach for many years to come.”
